At Duso’s, we understand how much you care about what’s in the food you buy.  As a family-owned company that’s very proud of our high-quality pastas and sauces, we care, too.

Our fresh pasta is made from only three ingredients – durum wheat, cage-free eggs and filtered water. Our sauces are made from vine-ripened tomatoes, the finest cheeses and the most flavourful herbs and spices.

Our business is rooted in a rich history that took our family from Italy to Toronto to Granville Island, Vancouver where Uncle Mauro set up our flagship shop. While we’ve grown and our products are available across Western Canada and into the U.S., our commitment to excellence remains steadfast.

Meet Duso’s Can-Do Product Developer

Jodi Simpson is one of Duso’s most experienced and energetic staffers.

She started in the front office about 20 years ago, has taken on progressively more responsible jobs and has learned from every one of them.

“It’s a great place to work,” she says. “It’s very family-oriented and everyone gets along really well.”

Jodi now does product development for the company. Part of the reason she joined Duso’s was the simple, clean and healthy approach it takes to the ingredients that are put into the products and the fact that fillers aren’t used.

Her latest invention is a red pepper, arugula and bacon pocket. Jodi pitched the idea to the management team, who gave it a thumb’s up. She came up with a flavour profile that everyone liked, and now it’s being sold across western Canada and in the Midwest USA at Costco outlets.

Before getting creative with ingredients and recipes, Simpson had several different jobs and learned everything about Duso’s process – from cooking to working the machinery to packaging.

Outside her job, Jodi likes to spend time with her husband and nine-year-old daughter hiking, swimming and stand-up paddle boarding near her home in Maple Ridge.

“We’re really lucky,” she says. “We have some nice parks nearby, including Golden Ears Provincial Park.” She also frequents Rolley Lake and Whonnock Lake.

After nearly a decade, Jodi still hangs out with a Moms group she met when she was pregnant.

“We do a lot of fun things together with the kids,” she says, adding that she regularly volunteers at the school providing hot lunches, fundraising and helping out on field trips.

With her strong background in knowing the business inside and out, Jodi’s not shy about pitching in wherever she’s needed – even doing dishes.

“Sometimes it’s good to do something different for a change,” she says.

Jodi’s can-do attitude and creative flair for developing new products make her an integral part of the Duso’s team.
